SCHOOL DISTRICT INVESTIGATING EMPLOYEE’S FACEBOOK COMMENT

A Morongo Unified School District employee posted on her Facebook page last week that undocumented immigrants housed in detention centers on the border had access to running water if they had toilets from which they could drink. The comment by Trish Nance Olsen, which alludes to the fact that the detainees should drink out of toilets and is surrounded by laughing emojis, comes amid increasing scrutiny of racist, violent, and mean-spirited media posts. When administrators at the school district were questioned about the comment, Dr. Deborah Turner, the acting Superintendent, told Z107.7 News, that the school “district is absolutely investigating the situation.” However, she added, “personnel issues are always confidential, so we are not able to discuss what steps will or will not be taken.”
