There will be a celebration of life for Otis Chantland—declared many years ago by Z1077 as the “Honorary Mayor of Joshua Tree”— tomorrow, Saturday, November 12, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Sportsman’s Club in Joshua Tree. Otis was an iconic figure in the Joshua Tree Community as he rode his bike daily around town to visit friends and many local businesses with a never ending-supply of greeting cards. His laugh and knock-knock jokes will be greatly missed by everyone he called brother and sister in the community. Otis is survived by many wonderful friends and very dedicated caregivers Jaycene Harrris, Cheryl Nelson, and Cheryl Boyd. The celebration of his life will be a potluck, so plenty of food will be available.
