RV CRASH KILLS HEMET MAN EAST OF JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

An 85-year-old Hemet man was killed and his passenger hurt when their Winnebago motor home ran off State Route 62 and overturned east of Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree National Park, according to the County Coroner and California Highway Patrol Investigators. James Stout died at the scene at 10:39 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, along Highway 62, about two miles east of Highway 177. His 84-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio. Stout was driving a westbound Ford Winnebago that was towing a Jeep Cherokee on a flatbed trailer. CHP Officer Mike Radford said, “For undetermined reasons, the Winnebago veered off the road, over an embankment and into the desert where it overturned.”
