REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED WEDNESDAY FOR NOT UPDATING ADDRESS

A registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday night, accused of not updating his address. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy made a traffic stop at Cholla Avenue and Highway 62 in Twentynine Palms about 10 p.m. Inside the vehicle was Lawrence Navarette, 56. The deputy determined that Navarette was a registered sex offender, convicted of lewd acts with a child under 14. Navarette’s last known address is 6226 Cahuilla Avenue in Twentynine Palms, but he told deputies he was a transient. Lawrence Navarette was arrested for investigation of not notifying law enforcement of his whereabouts every 30 days, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
