REACH OUT GETS A NEW VAN FROM ANONYMOUS DONOR

When a local private organization wanted to help Reach Out Morongo Basin with its biggest need, there was no question about what the charity would ask for. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains…

Reach Out Morongo Basin received a welcome addition to its neighbors-helping-neighbors program last week when the charity purchased a new eight-passenger van. The 2017 Toyota Sienna van will be used to provide low-income seniors and disabled residents in the Morongo Basin with free transportation to doctors, grocery stores, and social services appointments. The organization also provides free rides to doctors and specialists in the San Bernardino and Coachella Valley areas every week. Reach Out Executive Director Robin Schlosser said the organization’s vans have, on average, more than 165,000 miles on them, and costs for maintenance and repairs were increasing dramatically. The $36,000 van was purchased for Reach Out by a local private organization that asked to remain anonymous.
