OVER 1,000 POUNDS OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS COLLECTED IN TAKE BACK DAY EVENT

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department and the Drug Enforcement Administration took in 1,049 pounds of expired or unused and unwanted prescription drugs during the nationwide prescription drug take-back day on Saturday, April 30. The Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station took in 33 pounds of prescription drugs during the free and anonymous event. The most drugs—256 pounds—were delivered to the Yucaipa station. The Central Station received the fewest, at 18 pounds. Residents are urged to turn in their unused drugs as flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash pose potential safety and health hazards.
