Today Z107.7 begins a series of endorsements for local offices and untangling the crowded state ballot. We begin the series with the Z107.7 News Editorial Board’s endorsements for the Yucca Valley Town Council and the Twentynine Palms City Council.
For the Yucca Valley Council, we are endorsing incumbent Robert Lombardo and Planning Commissioner Jeff Drozd. Lombardo has shown seasoned leadership and a willingness to entertain new ideas. Drozd, having served on the planning and other commissions, will hit the ground with an understanding of how the process works. Drozd has put in his time and has earned consideration. He is very local, having graduated from Yucca Valley High School, is an experienced teacher and brings a willingness to listen to both sides of an issue.
For the Twentynine City Council, Z107.7 endorses incumbent Joel Kink and Planning Commission Chairman Ken King. Klink has been on the ground floor of project Phoenix and has the experience to bring the massive downtown revitalization project to a successful close. King is the chairman of the commission that just spent literally months updating the City’s Development Code. He is a no-nonsense candidate who understands the inner workings and structure of city government.
