ORGANIZERS CALL TWENTYNINE PALMS CAR SHOW A SUCCESS; WINNERS NAMED

Organizers are calling the 17th annual Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce Car Show and Street Fair held Saturday, March 18, a success, with close to 6,000 spectators attending. The event featured a mix of classic and late-model cars and trucks, and some special features. The event also included the ASYMCA Soapbox Derby, face-painting by Liyan of Cute Clowns, and a rock climbing wall. Live entertainment included Spankshaft, The Flusters, and Take A Hard Look. Z107.7 was also on hand with emcees Cody Joseph and Zach Armstrongalong with a variety of music from the Z107.7 Mobile DJ. The Chamber thanked car show judges Diane Bailey, Greg Mendoza, and Alan Clarke for volunteering their time and knowledge. A special thanks went out to Colonel Jay Wylie representing the Marine base and Mayor John Cole representing the City of Twentynine Palms.

 

Car Show “Choice” trophy winners were:

General’s Choice: Robert Leone of Yucca Valley with his 1950 Cadillac Fleetwood

Mayor’s Choice: Con Oamek of Redlands with his 1947 Chevy Fleetmaster towing a 1935 trailer

Chamber President’s Choice: Marcus Bundy of San Diego with his 1967 Barracuda Coupe

Peoples’ Choice: Bernard “Mike” Hammer of Twentynine Palms with his 2015 Polaris Slingshot XL

Stock 2nd Place: Robert Leone of Yucca Valley with his 1950 Cadillac Fleetwood

Stock 3rd Place: Don VanBlaricom of Twentynine Palms with his 1980 Datsun 280ZX

Classic 1st Place: Joe Kendall of Yucca Valley with his 1959 Chevy Impala

Classic 2nd Place: The Aldridge Family of Twentynine Palms with their 1956 Pontiac Starchief

Classic 3rd Place: Stanley Haveriland of Los Angeles with his 1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk

Truck 1st Place: Norm Correll of Joshua Tree with his 1957 Chevy Cameo Pickup

Truck 2nd Place: Steve Tungate of Yucca Valley with his 1956 Ford Pickup

Truck 3rd Place: Ray Black of Yucca Valley with his 1956 Ford F100 Pickup

Off-Road 1st Place: Scott Ruestmann of Yucca Valley with his 1969 Volkswagon Sand Rover “T” Bug

Off-Road 2nd Place: Dan & Rose Bowman of Apple Valley with their 1974 Volkswagon Super Beetle

Off-Road 3rd Place: Refugio Gil of Twentynine Palms with his 1972 Chevy K5 Blazer

Frank Santiago of Twentynine Palms took 1st Place in the Motorcycle category with his 2002 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic.
