ORCHID FESTIVAL CALLED “A HUGE SUCCESS”

Perfect weather, fabulous blooms, and wonderful entertainment provided the perfect venue for the 19th Annual Morongo Basin Orchid Festival, with over $16,400 raised for local charities in the two-day event. Tami Montgomery, President of the Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Club, said guests new to the festival were overwhelmed by the number of blooms and the sheer beauty of all the orchid flowers on display. The Boys and Girls club, and the Armed Services YMCA club each earned $1,500. Yucca Cheer Boosters earned $600. Tortoise Rescue will be receiving a festival check for $900. Most nonprofits will receive a minimum of $400. Many earned larger portions of the net proceeds up to $1,000.
