ONE JAILED AFTER AN ALTERCATION AT A HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT

A transient was arrested early Saturday morning, after two other homeless men said he burglarized their tent. According to a Sheriff’s report, the victims were sleeping in a tent in a park near the Yucca Valley Community Center when they said Christopher Persall, 39, entered their tent about 2:30 a.m. and stole a coat. The victims started fighting with Persall to retrieve their coat, and then dragged him to the Sheriff’s substation at the community center to report the burglary. Christopher Persall was arrested for violating the terms of his post-release community supervision. Persall was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center to be treated for abrasions and lacerations he suffered to his head and face, and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center with no bail.
