NEW TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY MANAGER IS A FAMILIAR FACE

It was anticipated that the Twentynine Palms City Council would name a new permanent city manager following its special closed session meeting last night. Reporter Dan Stork says the council’s choice is someone well-known locally…
The Twentynine Palms City Council has selected Frank Luckino to be the next city manager of Twentynine Palms. His base salary will be $159,000 per year, with a total compensation package after benefits coming to $225,000.
Luckino is currently the city manager of Blythe. He became interim city manager of that city in October 2013, after four months as Blythe’s finance director. The “interim” part of his title was dropped in May of last year. Before taking up duties in Blythe, Luckino was the chief financial officer and assistant general manager of the Hi Desert Water District. He had also served as a council member and mayor of Yucca Valley. Luckino will give his notice to Blythe today, and expects to begin his new post in Twentynine Palms around March 23.
