NEW, BASIN-WIDE MUNCIPAL ADVISORY COMMISSION MET LAST NIGHT

The Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council met for the first time last night. About two dozen members of the public turned out to weigh in on a handful of topics relevant to the County Board of Supervisors. The eight neophyte MAC members listened intensely to public comments on a proposed 248-unit gated development in Joshua Tree; local industrial scale solar development projects and the need for the MAC to establish an online presence. A ninth member of the MAC was away managing a death in the family. The Big MAC, as its being called, includes delegates from Morongo Valley, Joshua Tree, Pioneertown, Landers, Flamingo Heights, Copper Mountain Mesa, Yucca Mesa, and Wonder Valley. The delegates are tasked with gathering input from these communities and making recommendations to the Board of Supervisors based on that input. The only action item on last night’s agenda was the establishment of a project priority list. That item was tabled pending a workshop on the matter.
