NEIGHBORHOOD ARGUMENT ESCALATES INTO ASSAULT WITH A BARBEQUE GRILL

An argument between neighbors escalated Sunday until one was arrested for hitting the other in the head with the lid to a barbecue grill. According to a Sheriff’s report, Brandon Pettis, 33, was arguing with a neighbor in the 6400 block of Yucca Avenue in Twentynine Palms about noon. The victim told deputies that Pettis hit him in the forehead with the grill’s lid and then fled when deputies arrived. Pettis was located hiding under a pick-up truck at a neighboring residence. Brandon Pettis was arrested for investigation of assault with a weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
