NATIVE FOOD LECTURE AT HI-DESERT NATURE MUSEUM TOMORROW

Tomorrow’s lecture at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum is all about native food plants. Reporter David Knutson has your invitation….
Come join certified Master Desert Gardener, Leslie Mouriquand on Wednesday, November 11, to hear her presentation titled “Wayiki (to eat): Traditional Native Foods.” She has been researching prehistoric uses and spread of native food plants, as well as the foodways of native cultures. She will focus on the history of mesquite as an important food source for the early Native Americans and discuss preparation methods, medicinal uses, and how mesquite can benefit people today. The presentation will be held at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum in Yucca Valley, located at 57116 Highway 62. The lecture begins at 5:30 p.m. and admission is a $5 donation.
