NATIONAL PARKS SERVICE’S WILDLAND FIRE BRANCH

Joshua Tree National Park Ranger Pam Tripp has some fire safety tips for visitors…
For almost 100 years the National Park has been a steward of public land and the Wildland Fire Branch has been part of the mission of protecting these lands. The wildland fire program is committed to working with our neighbors and park partners to protect park and local resources.
Firefighters at the park conduct prevention, containment and suppression of wildland fires to protect the park resources and the visitors to Joshua Tree NP. They also conduct and participate in regular trainings in order to stay prepared for fire situations, as well as helping to fight fires in other areas as needed. Remember to practice safety when it comes to fire. If you build a campfire be sure to keep safety in mind before, during and after you build it and when putting it out. As Smokey Bear says, only you can prevent wildfires. Thank you to our Wildland Firefighters for the work they put in everyday to protect our national parks and local areas. For Copper Mt Broadcasting Z107.7 Desert Radio Group this is Park Ranger Pam Tripp, encouraging you to get to know how your national park works.
