MORONGO VALLEY WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER PURSUIT

A Morongo Valley woman was arrested early Sunday morning after a police chase from Morongo Valley to Desert Hot Springs. Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Yost said deputies responded to a family dispute in the 8700 block of Ramona Trail in Morongo Valley about 3 a.m. As deputies arrived, Catherine Engebretson, 38, left the scene in her car, and failed to stop as ordered. Deputies pursued Engebretson into Desert Hot Springs, where Desert Hot Springs police joined in the pursuit. Catherine Engebretson was finally stopped and arrested about 4 a.m. for investigation of felony reckless driving while evading a police officer, and for driving under the influence. She was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with her bail set at $100,000.
