MORONGO VALLEY MAN IS ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER

A Morongo Valley man was arrested Monday morning, accused of attempted murder. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to the 48300 block of Adeline Way in Morongo Valley about 8:45 a.m. for a domestic disturbance. The victim said that Jerry Hignight, 77, came into her room and started punching her in the face. When she fell back onto her bed, she said Hignight jumped on top of her and continued punching her and then started to choke her and yelled that he was going to kill her. The victim said Hignight squeezed her neck until she lost consciousness. Hignight was supposed to have been in court last week for a probation compliance review of his felony probation for assault with a firearm, but he did not show. Jerry Hignight was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $1 million.
