MORONGO VALLEY CSD TALKS POLICY AND SOFTBALL, DELAYS REORGANIZATION

The Morongo Valley Community Services District board of directors held its first monthly meeting of 2021 last night. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details…

At last night’s meeting, the board reviewed and discussed the district’s policies for communications among directors and with staff, ensuring that all directors understood the outlined policies and chain of command. The board then discussed the possibility of holding a 2021 softball season with COVID-19 precautions in place. The board will revisit the proposal pending safety reports from the county health department. The board also tabled its election of a new president and vice president until the return of Director Laurie Klimowicz, who was absent for the meeting.

During director reports, Fire Chief Gary Yearsley stated that the Morongo Valley Fire Department is in process of coordinating a location and time for members of the fire department to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The board also discussed the issue of large social gatherings that continue to be held at Covington Park despite the ongoing park closure. The board will discuss possible enforcement methods in upcoming meetings. Lastly, the board adjourned to closed session to discuss a personnel matter. President Gayl Swarat reported out from closed session that the issue was “satisfactorily dealt with.”
