MORONGO VALLEY CSD MANAGER CONDEMNS UNFOUNDED FACEBOOK ACCUSATIONS

Judging from the standing-room-only turnout for last night’s Morongo Valley Community Services District meeting, public interest in local government here remains high. Assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz has this report…
CSD board president Gayl Swarat opened the meeting expressing delight over the community’s interest. Getting down to business, the board authorized levy and collection of the annual Fire Suppression Assessment for the coming fiscal year; set Tuesday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. for the final budget workshop in advance of a July 19 public hearing; and under worker safety, it was announced that the district has been awarded a $25,000 grant to pay for a system to clear from the station fire engine exhaust fumes which routinely flood the station and adjoining CSD business office.
In her comments, General Manager Donna Munoz took exception to what was exposed as a laundry list of unfounded accusations recklessly disseminated via Facebook. Munoz condemned what she called “unearned disrespect” and reaffirmed her commitment, saying, “I’m going to see us through this,” in reference to efforts to finalize a balanced budget without compromising public safety.
