MORONGO VALLEY CSD DECLARES “MORONGO BASIN AMBULANCE MONTH”

During last night’s meeting of the Morongo Valley Community Service District Board of Directors, the Board made a proclamation declaring the month of September as “support Morongo Basin Ambulance month.” During the month of September, the Morongo Valley CSD will collect donations for Morongo Basin Ambulance to help fund updates to life-saving equipment and maintenance for their fleet of five ambulances. At last night’s meeting, the Morongo Valley CSD also received an update on the progress of renovations to the Covington Park kitchen. Morongo Valley Fire Chief Gary Yearsley stated that the kitchen is expected to be fully completed, up to code, and ready for community use by the end of August. Board President Gayl Swarat then expressed gratitude for the hundreds of volunteer hours put into the District’s application for a grant that, if awarded, would provide funding for much-needed renovations to Covington Park. The board also approved the name change of the “Morongo Valley Youth Softball League” to the “Morongo Valley Sports League” to ensure insurance compliance, approved the sale and removal of aging Covington Park maintenance vehicles, approved a one-year trial of a proposed District employee perk program, and received an update from Director Kristina Brook on the District’s ongoing effort to ensure ADA compliance in Covington Park. The board then moved to closed session to hold a public employee performance evaluation on Director of Operations Gary Yearsley; there was no public report.
