MORONGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT GIVES 500 RAISES, LUNCHES TO COST MORE

At last night’s Morongo Unified School District board meeting, the administration and some 500 non-teaching employees with the school district will each receive a 2 percent pay raise, retroactive to July 1, 2012. Teachers are still in negotiations for their salaries. School lunches for the 2013-14 school year will increase 10 cents for those not on the free or reduced lunch program. The board postponed any action on the request by the Save the Children program to solicit funds for its after-school and educational safety programs; board members felt further discussion was needed to assure how the funds would be allocated.
