MORONGO BASIN MAC TAKES UP TRAFFIC FLOW AND TRANSPORTATION TONIGHT

Transportation is on the agenda at tonight’s meeting of the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council. Reporter David Haldane has the story…
Want to have a say in improving traffic flow throughout the high desert? Tonight may be your chance as the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council meets to hear a presentation on the so-called Morongo Basin Active Transportation Plan.
Funded by a $200,000 grant from the Southern California Association of Governments, the plan calls for analyzing transit, bicycle and pedestrian needs to create, in the words of county Supervisor James Ramos, “a complete network of sidewalks, bike lanes and intersections…that will allow residents and visitors to safely and efficiently get to school, work, shopping centers and recreation sites without having to get into a motor vehicle.”
Tonight’s presentation will be made by Min Zhou, a principal with the KOA Corporation, a transportation planning and engineering firm retained to create the plan. The meeting gets underway 6:30 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Community Center on Sunburst Avenue.
