MORONGO BASIN HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO SHOW WILLIE BOY MOVIE IN LANDERS

A classic film which takes place in and around our Morongo Basin will be shown in Landers this Saturday evening. Reporter Sara Snyder invites you to a screening of “Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here”…

Back by popular demand, the Morongo Basin Historical Society kicks off a vintage film series Saturday, June 28, with the 1969 film, “Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here,” starring Robert Redford, Katharine Ross, and Robert Blake. The movie is based on the story of an Indian known as Willie Boy, who, some say, killed his girlfriend’s father, and then ran off with her. Abraham Polonsky romanticized the last massive manhunt in the West in 1909. Tickets are $8 for members and $10 for non-members, and includes a hot dog “blue plate special” and entrance to the Historical Society’s exhibition “Pioneertown-Movietown: The History and Legends of Movie-Making at the Old West Movie Set.” Bring your own folding chair and sit out on the front portico of the museum and research center, 632 Landers Lane in Landers. The event starts at 7:30.
