Among the first items of business is recognition of Morongo Basin Commander Lieutenant Eric Robles on his retirement following over 29 years of service to the California Highway Patrol. Steve Bardwell will be approved as Pioneertown delegate to the Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council, and Mary Kay Sherry should be reappointed to the Twentynine Palms Cemetery District. Also on the consent agenda is an amendment to the contract of the 16-bed crisis residential treatment facility going up along the highway in Joshua Tree. The amendment will add more than $200,000 to the price tag and push the completion date out 90 days to April 2018. Next, supervisors will claim an exemption to the California Environmental Quality Act in connection with upcoming resurfacing on Park Blvd. in Joshua Tree. Looking west to Morongo Valley, the board will conduct a public hearing on a proposed 12-pump gas station and convenience store on the highway at Senilis Avenue. The developer is counting on a General Plan Amendment, Conditional Use Permit, a variance, and other considerations.
