MBTA DONATION GETS REACH-OUT A NEW VAN

Keeping with its mission to provide affordable transportation to the residents of our Morongo basin, the MBTA has donated a new van to the Reach Out organization. Managing editor Tami Roleff has details…
Reach Out Morongo Basin will now be able to drive its neighbors to appointments in style, in its new 2016 Toyota Sienna van that is wheelchair accessible. The neighbors-helping-neighbors program received its new wheels Monday from the Morongo Basin Transit Authority, along with a $15,000 check for the van’s operating costs. Reach Out Executive Director Robin Schlosser said the organization will use the van to drive low-income, senior, and disabled clients to doctors’ appointments, shopping, and social services appointments. The van is the second vehicle donated by the MBTA to Reach Out. The new van can seat the driver and up to five passengers, including one in a wheelchair. Residents who need a ride should call Reach Out Morongo Basin at 760-361-1410.
