MARINE FOUND DEAD ON CAMP PENDLETON SHOOTING RANGE

A Marine was found dead Monday morning at a Camp Pendleton shooting range. First Marine Division public affairs officer Lt. Colleen McFadden said the Marine, who was assigned to the 1st Marine Division, was found at 6 a.m. at Marksmanship Training Range 214 with a gunshot wound to the head. The Camp Pendleton Federal Fire Department responded to the scene. It was unclear Monday how the Marine was shot. The name and circumstances of the Marine’s death were not released. An investigation has been launched. “Our priority is to take care of the Marine’s family and friends in the unit,” McFadden said.
