The first batch of amphibious combat vehicles were welcomed aboard the Combat Center in a ceremony earlier this month. The 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion received 18 of the eight-wheeled amphibious combat vehicles, or ACV, which replace the tracked amphibious assault vehicle that the Corps has been using since Vietnam. All the vehicles expected to be fielded in the next year are the troop transport version, but there is a version with a 30 mm cannon and a recovery version to pair with the amphibious troop transports.
