MAN KILLED WHEN HIS MOTORCYCLE CRASHES INTO CAR IN YUCCA VALLEY

A motorcycle rider was killed in a high-speed crash in Yucca Valley Wednesday evening. According to a Sheriff’s report, Bryce Sterling, 25, of Yucca Valley was traveling northbound on Old Woman Springs Road about 6 p.m. on his 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle in heavy traffic at speeds estimated between 80 and 100 miles per hour. Liliana Montoya, 51, of Yucca Valley, was also driving northbound in her 2010 Nissan Altima and had slowed to about 20 miles per hour to make a left turn into a driveway (with her turn signal on), near Turner Road. Cars behind Montoya also slowed. TheSheriff’s report says Sterling attempted to pass the slowing cars at a speed estimated to be 100 miles per hour when he crashed into the driver’s side of Montoya’s car. The force of the collision sent Sterling flying off the bike and he landed about 135 feet away from the site of the crash. Bryce Sterling sustained critical injuries and was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center and then flown to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs where he died. Montoya and her three passengers received only minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
