CLOSURES & CANCELLED OR POSTPONED EVENTS

  • Joshua Tree National Park has reopened all roads and campgrounds.
  • Theatre 29 in 29 Palms is closed to the public until further notice, but will be presenting a Theatre 29: Home Edition concert series.

  • Copper Mountain College plans to continue remote and online education delivery of most classes until further notice.
  • The Old Schoolhouse Museum is closed through the month of June.
  • The Morongo Basin Healthcare District’s LIFT Transportation program has suspended services effective immediately.

  • All Animal Action League clinics are cancelled until further notice.
  • The 29 Palms Creative Center and Gallery’s art classes are cancelled until further notice.
  • The following are events and programs that have been postponed or canceled in the City of 29 Palms:
    • Dance and Karate classes through Park and Rec have been cancelled.
    • Adult Co-Ed Volleyball, which was due to begin soon will be postponed.
    • Little League.
    • Kickball which is held on Sundays at Luckie Park has been cancelled.
    • Twentynine Palms Swim Team has canceled their Season.
    • Senior Center is closed. Meals are being distributed to Seniors daily.
    • Knott’s Sky Park Preschool in conjunction with Morongo Unified School District is closed.
    • Junior Tennis Program held at the Twentynine Palms High School has been cancelled.
  • Several facilities are closed on the Marine Corps base:
    • Sandy Lanes Bowling Center and Snack Bar
    • Golf Course Snack Bar
    • Wood Hobby Shop
    • Sunset Cinema and Snack Bar
    • Outdoor Adventures Unit and Recreation Issue
    • MCCS Community Center
    • Children’s Library Annex
    • Indoor Playground
    • Excursions Enlisted Club
    • Brass & Rockers Bar (Officer & SNCO Club)
  • Additionally, the Marine Corps base will modify the operations of the following activities and food venues:
    • Frontline Restaurant and Coyote Grill (Take-out Only)
    • Auto Skills Center (close self-service/retain full-service maintenance)
    • Desert Winds Golf Course (limited to individual rounds / no group events)
    • Stables (no new patrons, existing patrons allowed to service)
    • Marine Corps Family Team Building (LINKS Events postponed)
  • All local Social Security offices are closed to the public for in-person service. However, critical services will still be provided online at socialsecurity.gov.
  • The 29 Palms Senior Center is closed, but lunches are being delivered to homebound residents. Call the Senior Center for more information. 760-367-5780
  • Services for the following San Bernardino County departments and offices will be available only by phone and online. Offices will be closed to the public:

    • Public Works, with the exception of lobby computer access to surveyor records
    • Purchasing
    • Registrar of Voters, with the exception of election observers by appointment only
    • Risk Management
    • Special Districts Water and Sanitation
    • Transitional Assistance
    • Veterans Affairs
    • Workforce Development, however, in-person appointments will be conducted only when necessary
  • The following County attractions and services are closed to the public until at least April 3:
    • County branch libraries
    • County museums and historical sites
    • County Regional Parks, including Calico Ghost Town
    • Park and recreation district preschool in Joshua Tree
  • The following senior and community centers (centers that conduct meal programs will make meals available via drive-thru):
    • Joshua Tree Community Center
    • Wonder Valley Community Center
  • The California Department of Motor Vehicles customers whose transactions require an in-office visit will be served on an appointment-only basis.
  • The Family Service Association, which provides lunches at the Yucca Valley Senior Center, is making a temporary change to its lunch program.  Weekly meal packages will be available Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those 60 years and older. Limit one meal per person.
  • The 29 Palms Community Food Pantry will be open for service, but on an adjusted schedule.
  • The VFW post in Joshua Tree is closed and no meals will be served.
  • The Joshua Tree National Park visitor center at the Oasis of Mara is closed.
  • The Catholic Churches in all of the San Bernardino Diocese will not hold any Masses or other gatherings such as funerals and weddings until further notice.
  • The Community Food Pantry at the Lutheran Church on Hallee Road is closed until further notice.
  • The 29 Palms Visitor Center and Gallery is now temporarily closed.
  • The 29 Palms Water District is closed until further notice.
  • The Hi-Desert Water District lobby is closed to customers.
  • The Joshua Tree Courthouse will open from  8:30 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays for “limited emergency matters only,” with one or two courts open. Click to read full story.
  • The Town of Yucca Valley has cancelled all non-essential Town programs and events.
  • The San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk will close its offices and will be providing services via mail, email, or phone.
  • The California Welcome Center is closed until further notice.
  • The Joshua Tree Visitors Center is closed until further notice.
  • The Artomotive Art Gallery is closed until further notice.
  • The 29 Palms Creative Center is closed until further notice.
  • The 29 Palms Art Gallery is closed until further notice.

  • The Continuing Care Center is closed to visitors until further notice.
  • The Joshua Basin Water District office is closed until further notice.
  • The Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency is closed until further notice.
  • The Morongo Unified School District has canceled numerous school events to help preserve the health and safety of district students, staff, and faculty. These events include school-wide assemblies, field trips, athletic events, Saturday school, employee conferences, and school-related public gatherings. The school district will remain in contact with local health officials and keep students and families of students informed with updates on the virus and any rescheduling of school events.
  • Copper Mountain College’s Casino Nite has been rescheduled for June 6.
  • All visits by the Mobile Medical Unit have been canceled until further notice.
  • Bingo at the Twentynine Palms Senior Center is cancelled for the time being.
