LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SCORES

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan varsity football team cruised past Indio High School, 45-6, Friday night. Coach Andrew Amossa said Eli Lynch led the offense with three touchdown passes, and Lucas Lopez led the ground game. The Trojan offense had a total of 406 yards for the night. The defense was led by seniors Noah Rodriguez, Blake Rowe and Travis Shartel.
 
The Yucca Valley junior varsity came away with their second shutout win of the season against Indio High School. Quarterback Braden Brimhall led the junior varsity offense that couldn’t be stopped. The defense was stingy all day with a 48-to-0 victory. Ulysess Salazar and Anthony Stolting had six tackles for the Trojans.
 
The Twentynine Palms High School varsity Wildcats overcame a 14-0 deficit and a 27-14 deficit against visiting Xavier Prep Friday night, but eventually lost, 34-27, after tying the game at 27 with six minutes to play. Coach Ernest Martinez said the Wildcats defense only allowed two offensive drives over 30 yards. Junior K.J. Magwood led the team in tackles with 14. Michael Clark, Gunnar Moss, Abraham Bell and Caleb Roy also had outstanding defensive games. Bell, Clark, and Moss each recorded a quarterback sack, and combined for 24 tackles in the game. The Wildcats offense had 380 yards of total offense, however four turnovers played a key role. Junior Hunter Tygart led the team offensively with 149 yards rushing on 17 carries. K.J. Magwood had 58 yards on 10 carries, and senior Derek Sutherland had 46 yards of total offense on two carries and two receptions. 
 
The Twentynine Palms frosh-soph won their third game of the year 20-6. 
  
The Joshua Springs Christian Lightning football team won Friday’s neutral non-conference game against Noli Indian by a score of 32-12.
