“Calico Strikes” is the name of the next second Wednesday lecture series by the Morongo Basin Historical Society. March 8 meet Dr. Stephanie Slahor professor, author and lecturer and learn of California’s richest silver strike in the town of Calico in 1881. A book signing and question and answer period will follow the 5:30 lecture, all for a $5 donation. The lecture will be held at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum in Yucca Valley, 57116 29 Palms Hwy.
