LAST WEEKEND TO SEE “BILOXI BLUES” AT ST. JOSEPH’S IN YUCCA VALLEY

If you haven’t seen “Biloxi Blues” at St. Joseph’s in Yucca Valley, this weekend is your last chance. Reporter Rebecca Havely tells you how to get tickets…

The St. Joseph’s Players’ production of “Biloxi Blues” is one third of a play trilogy by Neil Simon called “The Eugene Trilogy.” The character of Eugene Jerome is the playwright’s alter-ego and is the central character in all three comedy/dramas. The Players produced the first of the trio last fall, “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” a coming-of-age tale of a young Jewish boy growing up in Brooklyn, New York. In “Biloxi Blues,” Eugene goes off to boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi, circa 1943, and meets an eclectic group of young recruits, a war-hardened Sergeant, and his first love. Next spring, the troupe will produce “Broadway Bound,” the final play in the series. The final performances of “Biloxi Blues” are this Saturday, June 6, at 7 p.m. and this Sunday, June 7, at 2:30 p.m. To reserve your seats now call 760-362-9319.

Biloxi Blues” tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for seniors, military and students. Performances are at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall located at 56312 Onaga Trail at the corner of Church St. in Yucca Valley.
