JUST UNDER 3 MILLION VISITORS TO JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK IN 2019

A new National Park Service report shows that nearly 3 million people visited Joshua Tree National Park in 2019, up by 2 percent with 46,000 more than 2018. That is a new attendance record for the park. Park Superintendent David Smith said “Joshua Tree has evolved from a fall-through-spring park, to a year-round destination.” Over 300,000 people visited the park in December, up more than 20,000 compared to 2018. The totals for annual visits do not include the 25 days that the government was shut down in January 2019 and the national parks remained open. Joshua Tree National Park received 2,998,989 visitors last year, 1,011 short of 3 million.
