JURY DELIBERATIONS BEGIN TODAY IN MURDER TRIAL

Jury deliberations begin today in the murder trial of a Twentynine Palms man accused of stabbing to death a Yucca Valley man. Jurors have been hearing testimony for nine days during the trial of Carlos Herrera, 41, who is accused of stabbing Luis Arroyo, 49, in the 7600 block of Cibola Trail on September 14, 2016. Arroyo’s girlfriend told investigators that Herrera stabbed Arroyo, and then fled in his vehicle on Highway 62. Deputies stopped Herrera a short time later on eastbound Highway 62 in Twentynine Palms. Herrera has been held in jail on $1 million bail pending his trial.
