If you’re up for a challenge, this is for you. Joshua Tree National Par is sponsoring a centennial hiking challenge. Here’s Park Ranger Pam Tripp with all the details…
Joshua Tree National Park is sponsoring a Centennial Hiking Challenge in honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016. Participants are invited to hike any trails within the park with a goal of hiking a total of 100 miles. Hikers are rewarded when 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100 milestones are reached. The challenge began in January and will continue through the year 2016. Pick up your free Hiking Challenge register at any of the park’s four visitor contact stations, including the Oasis of Mara Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree Visitor Center in Joshua Tree, Black Rock Education Center at Black Rock, or the Cottonwood Visitor Center at the south entrance of the park. Document each hike through reflection and/or photos. Then just bring your register back to a Visitor Center to redeem for milestone rewards. Joshua Tree National Park invites you to come out and Find Your Park!
