JOSHUA TREE WOMAN ACCUSED OF RAMMING EX-BOYFRIEND WITH A CAR

A Joshua Tree woman was arrested early Monday morning, accused of ramming her ex-boyfriend with her car. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to the 61400 block of Verbena Road about 1:40 a.m. for a domestic disturbance. The victim told deputies that he was arguing with Justine Owen, 22, who had been drinking. When she got in her Ford Taurus to leave, he attempted to stop her by standing in the way of her car. The victim told deputies that Owen then accelerated toward him; he tried to jump out of the way, but landed on the car’s hood and hit the windshield, before rolling off the car to the ground. Owen denied the allegations, and said that her ex-boyfriend hit her in the face. However, deputies determined that the victim’s scratches, abrasions, and limp corroborated his version of events. Justine Owen was arrested for investigation of assault with a weapon, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $50,000.
