JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK UNVEILS NEW MURAL

Joshua Tree National Park has unveiled a new mural at its Joshua Tree Visitor Center. The mural, painted by Maryland artist Robert Hynes, illustrates the creatures that lived in and around the national park thousands of years ago. Some of the animals depicted include the mammoths, camels, ground sloths, and bison. Fossilized remains of these animals have been found in the Pinto Basin area of Joshua Tree National Park, confirming that this region was once much wetter and teemed with life. Later this year, a new exhibit will be unveiled at the Joshua Tree Visitor Center which will feature a natural and cultural overview of the park.
