JOSHUA TREE MAN ARRESTED AFTER HIGH SPEED CHASE ON A DIRT BIKE SUNDAY

A Joshua Tree man was arrested early Sunday morning following a high-speed chase through residential neighborhoods in Yucca Valley. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a dirt bike, ridden by Timothy Smith, 40, about 1:40 a.m. near Yucca Trail and Warren Vista Avenue. Smith led deputies on a pursuit for about 2 ½ miles, reaching speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour, through residential streets and then into the desert. Smith crashed his dirt bike in a wash near La Contenta Road and Sunnyslope Drive. Timothy Smith was arrested for investigation of felony evading, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $110,000.
