JOSHUA BASIN WATER WILL TRY TO DISINFECT A WELL FOR THE FOURTH TIME

Joshua Basin Water District will sink more money into an effort to bring its primary well back online after two years. The well was just one of the items up for discussion at last night’s board meeting; our reporter Mike Lipsitz was there…
At last night’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the board released $160,000 to be dropped into well 14 to clean up bacterial contamination that has proven tenacious. In fact, the contamination remains despite three attempts by two contractors to eradicate it. Although that amount could rise, it is significantly less than was first estimated. Well 14 produces up to 60 percent of the district’s water. In other business, the district approved a water storage agreement with Mojave Water Agency, and a change in the description of an open position at the district so that a new recruit might be hired with an eye toward succession of the general manager.
