Last night in Joshua Tree the Joshua Basin Water District board of directors authorized a Will Serve Letter, Water Supply Agreement and Indemnification Agreement be issued to NextEra Solar for use at the newly approved Joshua Tree airport solar project. In their comments, every board member expressed the desire to withhold the vital documents, but at the end of the day they were left with little choice but to follow the path spelled out in the district’s mission statement which mandates that the district “provide a high standard of water quality.” Also last night, the board set a voluntary water conservation goal of a 20 percent reduction to January 2017 when the target will be revisited.
