JOSHUA BASIN WATER CONSIDERS QUARTER MILLION DOLLAR WELL REHAB

Following a short holiday hiatus, there’s a lot on tap at this evening’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District board of directors. Reporter Mike Lipsitz distills down tonight’s agenda…
Near the top of tonight’s agenda is a quarter-million dollar funding request for a plan to clean well 14. This is the district’s top-producing well that has been offline for almost two years during which time three separate efforts to clean a bacterial contamination have failed. District management remains optimistic that this fourth attempt to rehab the well will be successful. Management has expressed that mothballing the district’s workhorse well would be untenable. Also tonight, the board will hear a presentation on a number of planned projects from an engineering contractor, and consider a revision to the job title and description for the proposed position of General Manager of Operations, which has thus far proven difficult to fill. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at district offices on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
