JOSHUA BASIN WATER APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR, SKIRTS RATE INCREASE ACTION

Last night in Joshua Tree, the water district board appointed Joshua Tree resident and small business owner, Gayle Austin, to the Citizen’s Advisory Committee, accepted and filed the fiscal 2016/2017 financial audit, and revisited some of the finer points of the rate study but without action. Also last night, the board authorized staff to pursue a grant with which to conduct a solar feasibility study. And concerning Hazard Mitigation and Emergency Response plans, the board authorized the general manager to complete these plans, both of which are required in order to qualify for various grant funds. And in his report, General Manager Curt Sauer detailed a long list of ongoing efforts to cut costs, manage expenses, and innovate other savings throughout the district.
