JOE VUNCANNON OBITUARY

Joe Vuncannon, a 36-year-resident of Joshua Tree, died July 7 of heart disease. He was 73 years old. Joe Vuncannon is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Debbie Thomas of Joshua Tree, son Derrick Vuncannon of Eldon, Missouri, and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a county building inspector for 25 years, before retiring in 2008. As an inspector, he was tough but fair, and would draw a picture and make a parts list if that’s what the customer needed. Some people remember he enjoyed a good cigar. Others remember he wore boots with his cut-off jeans in the summer, that he was into healthy supplements, or that he was always working on a system to increase his odds. His friends should always remember, “Not two cannons, just vun.”
