INVESTIGATION OF A FAKE BOMB LEFT IN YUCCA VALLEY IS ONGOING

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fake bomb that was left in front of a Yucca Valley business Monday. About 6 p.m., deputies were called to JT Cross Fit, in the 58900 block of Business Center Drive for a suspicious gray box that had what appeared to be homemade pipe bombs inside, with wires hooked up to a cell phone. The building was evacuated and all nearby cell phones were turned off. The Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson squad arrived and sent in a robot to examine the device. After determining that it was not a real bomb and did not contain any explosives or harmful substances, the Bomb and Arson squad safely disposed of it. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
