INTENTIONAL FLOODING OF HOMES IN YUCCA VALLEY AND 29 PALMS

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating two similar cases of vandalism in Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley. On Saturday, deputies were called to the 6500 block of Desert Queen Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 7:30 p.m. when neighbors noticed water in the front yard of an apartment building. Neighbors and the landlord went inside the apartment and found that water had been left turned on in the kitchen sink, which flooded the room and went into the front yard. In addition, the home’s toilet, bathroom sink, cabinets, shower, walls, and closets had been vandalized. Damage is estimated at several thousand dollars.
On Monday, a neighbor walking her dog in the 8000 block of Jemez Drive in Yucca Valley noticed water coming out of a house. Someone had broken a bedroom window, put a hose through the window, and turned on the water. The house was flooded with about an inch of water by the time it was discovered. Damage is estimated at several thousand dollars.
Anyone with information about either case of vandalism should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
