HOMESTEAD VALLEY COMMUNITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS RENEWABLE ENERGY POLICY MONDAY

The Homestead Valley Community Council will discuss the prospect of more industrial-scale solar fields in Rural Living Zones at its next regular meeting tomorrow. The county’s planning commission meets April 26 to discuss Policy 4.10, which was removed from the county’s Renewable Energy and Conservation Element last August. The policy limited adverse impacts on the quality of life and economic development opportunities in unincorporated communities. While public comments supported a more restrictive policy, renewable energy developers felt that it was inconsistent and arbitrary. The Homestead Valley Community Council meets 3 p.m. Monday at the Yucca Mesa Community Center, 3133 Balsa Avenue, just off Aberdeen Road.
