HISTORICAL LANDERS POST OFFICE RESTORED

The original Landers Post Office has been restored and is going on display. Reporter Mike Lipsitz invites you to the dedication this Sunday…
The intersection of Reche Road and Landers Lane has been the unofficial center of Landers since 1962 when Vernette Landers bought the corner property and began operating a small post office from a little cabin there. For the next 22 years, she kept it going it using her own savings. Then in 1998, a new post office opened just steps away from the original, so Landers had the tiny building moved a few hundred yards down the road to her home at 632 Landers Lane, now the site of the Morongo Basin Historical Society. The newly restored, original post office is about to get a new life as exhibit displaying the history of Landers. You are invited to the dedication on September 27 at 2:30 p.m.MB historical society
