HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

The Twentynine Palms Wildcats boys’ basketball team hosted the Big Bear Bears on Friday, January 8, and came away with a huge victory 87-32. D’Shaun Barrett lead the scoring with 14 points, Kyle Hope 13 points and Adam Bell put in nine points. Andrew Wilson hit the boards with 11 rebounds, Adam Bell had six rebounds, Jimmy Shragge, Demetrius Holmes, Kyle Hope, Ian Duhon and Abraham Bell all had four rebounds for the game. D’Shaun Barrett lead the defense with six steals, Adam Bell three steals, Jimmy Shragge and Kyle Hope each had two steals.

Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer lost 4 to 0 to Shadow Hills High School on January 8. Coach Jorge Rodriguez said junior goalkeeper Steven Castro had 5 saves, senior Andrew Bellucci had five shots on goal and the middle of the pitch was controlled by Junior Oscar Hernandez.
 
The Twentynine Palms High School Lady Wildcats hosted Big Bear High school Friday evening, resulting in a 4-1 loss for junior varsity and a 1-1 tie for the varsity team to open league play. Coach Richard Sanchez said Wildcat of the Week sophomore midfielder Emma Yeager scored on a direct free kick in stoppage time from outside the box to tie the game. Senior goalkeeper Maranda Palmer added 13 saves for the ’Cats.
Sophomore Rose Perrotte opened the scoring for the junior varsity squad with an assist from junior varsity captain sophomore midfielder Season Bosch. Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Soster had six saves in the effort, while sophomore goalkeeper Lydia Medina contributed with five more, shutting the Lady Bears out in the second half.
 
Today in high school sports, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ soccer team will host Desert Hot Springs High School at home and the girls’ soccer team will travel to Desert Hot Springs. Also, the boys’ basketball team will host Desert Hot Springs High School at home and girls’ basketball will travel to Desert Hot Springs High School.

Also today, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball will face Desert Mirage High School at home and the girls’ basketball team will travel away to Desert Mirage High School. The boys’ soccer team will also face Desert Mirage High School at home and the girls’ soccer team will travel away to Desert Mirage High School.

Tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School wrestling team will host Desert Mirage High School at home.
