HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: RESULTS AND SCHEDULES

The Twentynine Palms Wildcats boys’ basketball team hosted Xavier Prep High School last night in the first round of the CIF southern section playoffs. The Wildcats cut a six-point lead to three points with 18 seconds left on the clock. After several attempted three point shots, the Wildcats fell short in a 58-61 loss. Coach Jeremy Johnson said Jimmy Shragge led all scorers with 15 points, Adam Bell and Abraham Bell had 10 points each, Kyle Hope nine points and D’Shaun Barrett and Carson Zimarik each had seven points. The Wildcats boys’ basketball teams ended their season with an overall record of 20-6 and a league record of 10-2.
 
Both the Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley High School girls’ basketball teams will host first-round CIF playoffs tonight. The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team will play the Ganesha High School Giants. The Twentynine Palms girls’ team will host St. Margaret’s Episcopal. Both games start at 7:00 p.m. at their respective hometown gyms. The cost for the CIF 4AA Southern Section basketball playoffs, set by CIF, is $10 for adults and $5 for students with ID.
 
In high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ wrestling team will participate in the CIF individual meet.
