HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS RESULTS

The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat boys basketball team traveled to Rancho Mirage High School to play the Brawley Wildcats in the Rancho Mirage invitational. Twentynine Palms was victorious with a 81-67 score. Coach T.J. Stanford said Twentynine Palms will have a home game Tuesday, December 6, against Cathedral City.
Adam Bell led the scoring with 23 points and nine rebounds. Abraham Bell had 21 points and 11 rebounds. D’Shaun Barrett and Ian Duhon had 10 points, with Javier Soriano chipping in nine points.

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team used some strong fourth-quarter defense to notch a 56-51 win over Beaumont High School last night in a third-round game at the West Valley Mustang tournament in Hemet. Coach Jess Geeson said the squad finishes the tournament tonight in a 7: 30 p.m. fifth-place game against Murrieta Mesa.
Coach Jess Geeson said the Lady Trojans were trailing 40-46 to start the fourth quarter, but held the Cougars to five points in the final eight minutes to improve their record to 2-1 on the season. Junior Savannah Beasley led the team with 17 points, while sophomore Angie Reutgen added 10 points. Junior Zena Yakimow came off the bench with nine points and junior Kloee Scaccionoce chipped in seven points.

The Twentynine Palms High School boys soccer team hosted the Big Bear Bears on Thursday night at home. The varsity Wildcats pulled out an exciting 3-2 victory. 
Coach Nathan Niles said the victory came with a goal in the 70th minute by freshman Adan Herrera, off an assist in the box by senior Carlos Herrera.  Senior Sam Eggers evened the score at 2-2 off of an assist from senior Ryan Stowers to end the half. Junior Nick Stowers opened the scoring with a lightning quick goal off an assist from junior Tim Niles. Freshman goalkeeper Juan Duran had 10 saves on 12 shots. Freshmen Dante Smith Evans and Andrew Henry scored on headers over the goalie to lead the ’Cats. Jacob Nilsson led the team with great ball control in the middle. Great team play throughout led to the Wildcats to a dominating performance in control and corner kicks.
The junior varsity ’Cats battled fiercely against Big Bear and came away with a 2-2 tie.
The Wildcats continue with a home game next Tuesday against La Quinta.  Junior varsity begins at 3:15 and varsity at 5.
